The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General today announced a civil settlement with CleanSlate Centers and its founder and former Chief Executive Officer Dr. Amanda Wilson. The settlement resolves allegations that CleanSlate, an opioid addition treatment center, submitted false and fraudulent claims to MassHealth and Medicare for patients in Massachusetts. CleanSlate and Dr. Wilson will pay $4.5 million. In addition, CleanSlate is required to enter into an independent compliance program with annual audits.
The allegations being settled were originally brought in a Complaint filed by our client under the whistleblower (or qui tam) provisions of the federal and Massachusetts False Claims Acts.
“We are very proud of our client for coming forward. And, our client is pleased with the settlement and grateful to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office for its diligent pursuit and now settlement of her case,” said David W.S. Lieberman, who along with Suzanne E. Durrell and Bruce C. Judge, represents the Relator.
